Licensing: Bravado Product Design I Creative Direction: Carl Braun Release Date: January 2010 Product Info: It was during our initial meeting with Bravado in New York that we learned the Justin Bieber trading card license was available. We were there to discuss the Michael Jackson set and ended up walking away with a Bieber license as well. At this time Panini America had me in a Product Development Role, acting as both Product Designer and Creative Director, and while I was used to wearing many hats AND producing most of the graphic designs for my sets, I was working on too many to allow for that. To the out-of-house design team, I provided very tight Creative Direction as I knew exactly what I wanted and how the cards needed to look. I also knew I wanted to utilized many printing techniques throughout this set such as black overprints, prism ink overlays and whiteplates to create first editions, chase cards and foil inserts respectively. The end result was a card set that flew off store selves and garnered two reprints before we began driving folks to buy the second set, which I began laying out almost immediately. Additional sales were generated with the Collector's Binder. I added an Order Form to the back of every Sticker in this set and since those fell one per pack, every pack had an ad in it.
